1. Who We Are
ShopperTell ("we", "us", "our") operates the ShopperTell mobile application — a social shopping platform where users share honest reviews, shopping stories, and buying tips. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@shoppertell.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: email address, username, country, and optional profile photo when you register.
- User content: posts, shopping reviews, stories, tips, comments, reactions, and saved lists you create in the app.
- Communications: messages or feedback you send to our support team.
- Referral code: if you were referred by another user, we store the referral code provided.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: features you use, posts you view, searches you perform, and actions you take in the app.
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Crash and performance data: error logs and app performance data to help us fix bugs.
- Firebase analytics: anonymized event data (e.g., screen views, button taps) to help us improve the app experience.
Information from third-party sign-in
If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive a unique identifier and the email address associated with that account. We do not receive your social media passwords.

4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Public profile and content: your username, profile photo, and posts you share are visible to other ShopperTell users. Posts marked public may be discoverable by search.
- Service providers: we use Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Storage, and Cloud Functions) to operate the Service. These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your data.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShopperTell, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: if ShopperTell is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and user content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory reasons.
Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely to help us understand usage trends.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update inaccurate or incomplete information directly in your profile settings.
- Deletion: delete your account and associated data from Settings > Delete Account.
- Portability: request an export of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: object to certain processing activities based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

7. Push Notifications
We may send you push notifications about likes, comments, follows, and other activity related to your account. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device's notification settings or in the ShopperTell app under Settings > Notifications.
8. Children's Privacy
ShopperTell is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@shoppertell.com and we will delete the information promptly.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, Firebase Security Rules to restrict unauthorized database access, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
ShopperTell uses Google Firebase, which may store and process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection standards.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, product pages, or retailer sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. 13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
